Lovlina Borgohain, a great Indian boxer has won India’s third medal at Tokyo Olympics 2020. Now she has become the third Indian boxer to win bronze at the Olympics. Before this Vijender Singh won bronze in 2008 at Beijing Olympics and then Mary Kom won bronze in 2012 in London Olympics.
Lovlina Borgohain successfully won her bronze medal after that she failed to change the colour of her medal as by going down 0-5 against Busenaz Surmeneli of Turkey in the 69kg welterweight semifinals which was held on 4 August, 2021. She has become the Second female boxer of India to win a bronze in Olympic after Mary Kom , who achieved the same at London Olympics in 2012.
This is the third medal India got this year in Tokyo Olympics 2020. Before this we got the silver medal from Mirabai Chanu in weightlifting and PV Sindhu got bronze in badminton women’s individual event. And lovlina also became the first ever Assamese women to win an Olympic medal.
Lovlina Borgohain win bronze medal in the women’s welterweight event at the Tokyo Olympics on Wednesday, defeating Turkey’s Busenaz Surmeneli 0-5 in the semifinal.

Lovlina was basically brought up in Baro Mukhia village of Assam’s Golaghat district, her mother went through kidney transplant just last year. Lovlina visited her for a few days at that time and unfortunately tested positive for Covid-19 a day before she was just to leave with the Olympic-qualified group for a 52-day training trip to Europe but with her great hardwork and confidence he’s ended up winning a silver medal for the country.
