Highlights: 3rd T20I between India and New Zealand

India’s new T20I era, led by Rohit Sharma, got off to a flying start with a 3-0 thrashing of the Black Caps.
New Zealand never recovered from Axar Patel’s three wickets in the Powerplay as they chased for the first time in the series. Martin Guptill put up a valiant effort with a beautiful half-century, but the rest of the lineup fell short, with only two other hitters reaching double figures.

India rested important player KL Rahul ahead of the ICC World Test Championship matches against New Zealand after winning the three-match T20I series. Ishan Kishan came in to replace him and opened the innings alongside skipper Rohit Sharma.
India’s Powerplay score reached 69/0 thanks to the efforts of the two batsmen. Rohit Sharma made his intentions known right on, hitting two straight boundaries off Trent Boult in the first over.
Adam Milne and Lockie Ferguson risked from the other end, as India’s openers didn’t spare any loose balls. Kishan and Rohit struck three fours and a six in Ferguson’s final Powerplay over for a total of 20 runs.

The New Zealand captain came on after the Powerplay and instantly thwarted India’s efforts, dismissing Ishan Kishan for a 21-ball 29 after being edged and caught by the wicketkeeper.
India triumphs despite Guptill’s lone battle.
In the absence of Kane Williamson, Guptill had been expected to bat through the innings throughout the series. He was also New Zealand’s lone warrior in the last game, as he was the only batter to reach the 20-run mark.
Guptill kept the scoreboard ticking with the occasional boundaries despite losing partners at the other end. Tim Seifert provided him with solid support, and the two put on a 39-run fourth-wicket stand.
