US ,UE reject interim Taliban Government

Germany: The United States and the European Union have condemned the Taliban’s “caretaker” government in Afghanistan for failing to honour pledges made by the new rulers to include various groups, while Washington emphasized that the Taliban would have to earn legitimacy from the rest of the world, according to foreign media.
After meetings with allies on how to present a united front to Afghanistan’s hardline new government, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken cautioned on Wednesday that the Taliban would have to earn legitimacy from the rest of the world.
“The Taliban are seeking international recognition. Any credibility – any backing – must be earned “Blinken spoke to reporters after leading a 20-nation ministerial meeting on the Afghan problem at the US airbase in Ramstein, Germany.
European allies and Pakistan were among those who took part in the virtual gathering. Official US recognition of a Taliban administration is still a long way off, according to US sources.
Standing behind him, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said the international community expected the Taliban to respect human rights, particularly those of women, to allow humanitarian supplies into the country, and to let those who wanted to leave do so. Concerned about the composition of the cabinet, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said there was little reason to be optimistic about the situation in Afghanistan.
Both Blinken and Maas slammed the caretaker government, which has no women or non-Taliban members and includes an interior minister whom the US wants to detain on terrorist charges. Blinken stated that the caretaker ministry would be judged “by its actions,” while his German counterpart expressed “scepticism.”
Maas stated those meetings were the “beginning point for international coordination” on how to deal with the Taliban. The European Union said the Taliban’s “caretaker” administration in Afghanistan failed to follow the new rulers’ pledge to incorporate other communities.
