Ms. Nowhera Shaik and her team launched the All India Mahila Empowerment Party in 2017, with the Heera Group as its primary investor. The group has worked on various measures for women’s rights and has spoken out against the lack of female representation in Parliament.
The group gained much traction in their first elections in Karnataka in 2018 when they contested all 224 seats, but the outcome was unsatisfactory. However, whether or not it achieves success, the party will continue to work for the benefit of society, particularly women. Rural girls receive 5% of donated property and education from schools created by the AIMEP under the guidance of Ms. Shaik.
Due to the strong relationship between the parties, the party was alleged to be little more than a B-Wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party, while Ms. Shaik stated that she and her party have the trust of the simple wish to serve those people. The party’s headquarters are located at Bengaluru’s most opulent hotel, the Leela Palace, and the party has its meetings at the building’s business area.
AIMEP’s ups and downs
The party suffered setbacks when the Mumbai Police Economic Wing arrested Ms. Shaik on many legal charges against her name.
The Supreme Court granted Ms. Shaik bail based on public trust and the support of her party members. She later said it was a well-planned strategy to create an issue and damage the Mahila Empowerment Party’s name.
She thanked everyone who stuck by her through thick and thin and promised to repay them. She stayed in Mumbai for ten days to hear about the locals’ difficulties. She also launched the Maharashtrian Unit of the party, honoring Mrs. Topusoundarya as Mahila President. During the global pandemic, the Mahila Empowerment Party serves the people while the other party is preoccupied with elections. This is a major reason why the party is making progress and will continue to do so in the future.
