Time Magazine has named Prime Minister Narendra Modi one of the 100 most influential individuals in the world in 2021. PM Modi, who has appeared on the list several times in past years, was described by the magazine as one of the country’s pivotal leaders. “
On Wednesday, Time Magazine released their global list of “The 100 Most Influential People” for 2021. There are six categories on the list: Icons, Pioneers, Titans, Artists, Leaders, and Innovators.
Apart from PM Modi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Adar Poonawalla, CEO of Serum Institute of India, has been ranked among the world’s 100 most influential individuals.
On September 15, 2021, Time magazine released its annual list of “The 100 Most Influential People of 2021.”
This annual list includes Chinese President Xi Jinping, US President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, Duke and Duchess of Sussex Prince Harry and Meghan, former US President Donald Trump, and Taliban co-founder Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar.
Fareed Zakaria, a CNN journalist, wrote a profile of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to the magazine, the prime minister is one of three significant leaders India has had since independence — the others being Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, and Narendra Modi.
“Narendra Modi (70) is the third, dominating the country’s politics like no one else since then,” says Zakaria.
“Despite mishandling COVID-19—the death toll has been judged to be far higher than the official count—his approval rating has dipped to a still sky-high 71 per cent,” Zakaria writes in a profile critical of the government’s actions.
