Arani S Hazarika of Guwahati, Assam, has been chosen for a program in oriental studies at the prestigious Oxford University in England.
Arani S Hazarika has been accepted by Oxford University’s Balliol College to study Sanskrit, the classical language of South Asia.
The girl lives in Ananda Nagar, which is in the Noonmati neighbourhood of Guwahati, Assam. She had completed her higher secondary education at the Holy Child School in Guwahati’s Krishna Nagar.
It should be noted that Balliol College is one of the oldest connected colleges of the famed Oxford University, as well as one of Oxford’s constituent colleges. Balliol College was founded in 1263.
Arani spoke to the media about her feelings and satisfaction at being accepted to study Sanskrit at one of Oxford’s prestigious institutions.
She stated that studying at Oxford University had been a dream of hers since she was a youngster, and that during the process of making her dream a reality, she developed an interest in studying Hinduism.
She went on to say that she later learned about the Oxford University of England’s course in oriental and religious studies through a series of events.
Arani also discussed how she was able to be accepted for the course in Oxford. She stated that after applying for the course, she was requested to prepare an essay on a certain topic, which she stated was “Should religion be studied at a secular university?”
Arani was contacted for various rounds of interviews after submitting her essay, and the Balliol College administrators eventually made her an open conditional offer to pursue oriental studies in the Sanskrit language.
Finally, Arani noted that her long-term goal is to become a research researcher and a well-known writer.
Arani’s father, Partha Pratim Hazarika, is a well-known veteran writer who previously worked as the assistant editor of the Assam Tribune, an English daily published in Guwahati. Sudakshina Bhuyan, her mother, is a well-known Feng Shui Vastu astrology specialist.
